The works include geodetic surveying and marking of the site for construction purposes, site clearance, topsoil removal, excavation of earth drainage channels, and the construction of embankments and the road subgrade.
The estimated value of the works amounts to RSD 68,641,511, excluding VAT.
According to the issued permit, as proof that property and legal issues have been resolved, the investor submitted, among other documents, a conclusion adopted by the Government of Serbia recognizing the construction of the Class IB expressway from the Hungarian border crossing at Backi Breg through Sombor, Kula, Vrbas, Srbobran, Becej, Kikinda, to the Romanian border crossing at Nakovo, as a public linear transport infrastructure project of special importance to Serbia. The project will therefore be implemented under the special procedures applicable to infrastructure projects of national significance.
It should be recalled that about ten days ago, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated that the section of the Smile of Vojvodina expressway up to Kljajicevo is expected to be completed by the end of June 2028.
The entire expressway, running from the Hungarian border crossing at Backi Breg via Sombor, Kula, Vrbas, Srbobran, Becej, Novi Becej, and Kikinda to the Romanian border crossing at Srpska Crnja, will be 185.5 kilometres long and designed for a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
The route has been divided into two sectors and eight sections. A framework commercial agreement has been signed with Azerbaijani company Azvirt covering five sections with a total length of 94.2 kilometres, extending from Backi Breg through Sombor, Kljajicevo, Sivac, Crvenka, Kula, Vrbas, and Srbobran.
