Main structure of bridge over Danube near Novi Sad connected

The main bridge structure of the bridge over the Danube in Novi Sad, as part of the Fruska Gora Corridor, was connected today. The new road is 1,700 meters long with access structures, while the central section over the Danube has a span of 505.75 meters.

The bridge will connect Petrovaradin with the E-75 highway on the Backa side of the river and take over part of the transit freight traffic, which will reduce the passage of trucks through Petrovaradin and Novi Sad.

Upon completion of the works, better connections will be established between the routes Subotica - Novi Sad - Belgrade and Novi Sad - Zrenjanin - Belgrade with the Fruska Gora Corridor and Ruma.

Iriski Venac bridge and tunnel to be completed in about a year

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in his address during a tour of the works that the construction site looked like a small architectural and construction miracle to him.

Vucic asked the director of the Corridor of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, when the bridge and the Iriski Venac tunnel, which were part of the Fruska Gora Corridor, would be finished, and received an answer that they would be opened at about the same time, about a year later.

Vucic stated that it had previously been announced that they would be finished by the end of the year and asked Antic and the contractors why the delay was happening.

– It is not good if we tell the people one thing and then have to extend it – added Vucic and stated, after receiving the answer that they had had to change part of the documentation related to the implementation of the project, that all of that could have been done earlier.

The main contractor of the works is the China Road and Bridge Corporation, while the investor and client of the works is the PE Corridors of Serbia.

At the beginning of the route, the corridor connects to the E-75 Belgrade - Novi Sad - Subotica highway, while at the end it connects to the newly built Ruma - Sabac highway and the Sabac - Loznica expressway, as well as the future Slepcevic - Badovinci expressway.
