NIS submits new license application to US Treasury

Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) has submitted an application for a new operating license to the US Treasury.

In March, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued an operating license to NIS, which expires on April 17. Therefore, NIS has now submitted an application for a new operating license.

The US administration has extended the license for negotiations with Gazprom Neft and MOL on the sale of the majority Russian ownership in the company until May 22.

OFAC imposed sanctions on NIS on October 9, 2025, precisely because of the majority Russian ownership.
