Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanović stated that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department had extended the operating license of Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) for 30 days, until March 20.

– NIS can continue to deliver crude oil, process it at the refinery in Pancevo and continue to regularly supply the market with petroleum products – Djedovic Handanovic said in a statement.

The minister added that she would talk to the Russian side, as well as that she would be in Washington the next week, where “diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the sanctions on NIS are continuing.”

– Negotiations between Gazpromneft and MOL, in which we are also involved, are continuing. Next week, we will have intensive discussions on issues that are important for our country in order to improve our position and ensure that we have the greatest possible benefits from NIS in the future, as we have in the past – she said.

Djedovic Handanovic stated that there had been no shortages on the market and that “a major crisis has been overcome.”

– At the end of last year, there was no flow of crude oil into Serbia for almost 100 days, but there was no fuel shortage. We are finding the best sustainable solution, protecting the interests of our citizens and we will continue to inform the public about everything transparently, as we have done so far – said the Minister of Mining and Energy.
