– We have reached the point where Hungary and Serbia cannot ensure security and development in several different areas without each other, we have become indispensable to each other. Rail traffic is perfect for economic growth, because it does not harm the environment and there is no congestion, and Serbia is the most efficient connection between ports in southern Europe and the west. Traffic and transport between southern and western Europe is of crucial importance and will certainly strengthen both the Serbian and Hungarian economies – he told reporters in Belgrade.
On Friday, the first freight trains on the Belgrade-Budapest line officially started. As he said, when passenger traffic is established, there will be 16 trains a day, four of which will be connected to the Budapest-Vienna section (8 pairs of trains between the two cities, of which two pairs are for Vienna - ed. eKapija).
– As for border control, we will try to ensure minimal stops, we want customs control to be carried out during movement, and we want to manage to reduce the transport time frame between Belgrade and Budapest to about three hours, tickets will soon be available for purchase at a price of EUR 25 – said the Hungarian minister.
When it comes to other sectors, Szijjarto said that due to the need for electricity, the two countries had expanded their cooperation to the field of nuclear cooperation. He also pointed out that another transmission line was being built between the two countries, which would double the existing capacity by 2030.
When it comes to European integration, he assessed as a bad joke that, according to him, Brussels wanted to have Ukraine join the European Union before Serbia, calling Ukraine the most corrupt country in the world.
– Serbia would strengthen the EU, it would contribute to the development of the EU, it would bring peace, while Ukraine would bring with it damaged grain, the Ukrainian mafia and war – he claims.
