Freight traffic on the Belgrade-Budapest railway could start at the end of February, and passenger traffic in mid-March, Hungarian Minister of Construction and Transport Lazar Janos announced on his Facebook account.

After a meeting with Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijevic in Budapest, he pointed out that the Budapest-Belgrade railway opened the door to the Balkan countries, because it was in the strategic interest that freight and passenger traffic starting in Serbia passed through Hungary.

He added that “with this successful, joint investment, which represents the largest railway development project in the last few decades, Serbia and Hungary have managed to strengthen relations.”
