Zijin unmistakably sniffing out gold: Company to invest another 5 million dollars in Australian mining on Rogozna

Zijin Mining Group is further strengthening its strategic position in Australian company Strickland Metals, which is exploring for gold on the Rogozna mountain near Novi Pazar. The Chinese mining giant, which previously invested 5 million dollars in the Rogozna project, thus entering the ownership of the Australian company, is now repeating that investment by investing another 5 million Australian dollars (about EUR 3 million).

The investment, which increases Zijin’s stake in Strickland from 3.3% to four percent, is planned as part of Strickland’s latest capital raising of AUD 55 million through the issuance of about 343.2 million new shares at a price of AUD 0.16 per share, Strickland said in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange.

The funds raised will be used for intensive exploration at the Rogozna project, including new drilling at key locations and updating resource estimates throughout this year, with the aim of completing a preliminary feasibility study in the first half of 2027.

This move allows Strickland Metals to accelerate development and expand known reserves, while Zijin Mining’s investment ensures stable support for a strategically important project, which is considered one of the most promising mining deposits in Europe with approximately 267 tons of gold equivalent, and resource estimates are constantly growing.

As a reminder, eKapija reported to the Serbian public yesterday that Strickland Metals had announced new drilling results at the Gradina deposit within the Rogozna project, which showed that gold mineralization in this deposit extends significantly beyond the limits of the previous resource estimates of approximately 37 tons of gold.

Zijin is the largest player in the mining sector in Serbia, operating the Bor and Cukaru Peki copper and gold mines with resources of 34 million tons of copper and 822 tons of gold.
