Belgrade railway junction back on the agenda - IZS requests green permit for reconstruction of railway in 4 Belgrade tunnels

Serbian Railways Infrastructure has submitted a request to the relevant ministry for a decision on the need for an environmental impact assessment of the project – phase-based reconstruction and rehabilitation of the railway in the Dedinje, Vezni, Stadion and Vracar tunnels and reconstruction of the platform at the Karadjordje Park stop.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection has not yet published the text of the Request. Let us recall that the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure announced a tender in 2022 for the development of technical documentation and supervision of the reconstruction of the railways within the Belgrade railway junction.

The subject of the work was the railway in the Dedinje, Vezni, Stadion and Vracar tunnels, and on the Pancevo Bridge-Pancevo Glavna section.

To finance the modernization project of the Serbian railway sector, the World Bank and the French Development Agency granted Serbia a loan of EUR 102 million in 2021.
