Three boreholes completed, fourth in October – Banatski Dvor soon to be ready for first gas injection, deadline for completion of all works postponed

The works on equipping the first four of a total of 12 new boreholes in the underground gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor are nearing completion, three boreholes have been completed, while the fourth is expected in October, when they will be ready for the first gas injection, the company announced.

Srbijagas Director Dusan Bajatovic, together with NIS CEO Kirill Tyurdenev and PSG Banatski Dvor Director Sergey Tregub, visited the works on the expansion of the only underground gas storage facility in Serbia.

– The remaining eight boreholes are planned for construction from spring 2026, with expected completion by spring 2027. In parallel, above-ground equipment for gas preparation is also being constructed, including well lines, compressors and a preparation line – it was stated after the tour of the site.

Let us remind that, in July, the Ministry of Mining and Energy announced that the work on expanding the capacity of the Banatski Dvor underground gas storage facility would be completed by the end of 2026.

The goal of the project is to increase the storage capacity from the current 450 to 750 million cubic meters and increase daily production to 10 to 12 million cubic meters of gas.

The expansion of the Banatski Dvor underground gas storage facility is being financed by its shareholders - Srbijagas and the Russian company Gazprom International Projects.
