Memorandum signed between Srbijagas and Romanian Transgaz

At the seat of the Bucharest office of Transgaz, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the PE Srbijagas and SNTGN Transgaz SA from Romania. The memorandum, which defines the framework and the basic principles for the coordination of activities that will be carried out between the two companies, was signed on behalf of Transgaz by Ion Sterian, the CEO of the Romanian company, and on behalf of Srbijagas, by general manager Dusan Bajatovic.

Following the signing, it was agreed to also jointly prepare and present this September the plan for the realization of the project of the interconnection of the National Natural Gas Transmission System in Romania with the National Natural Gas Transmission System in Serbia, which entails the construction of a new gas pipeline for the transfer of natural gas which would secure a connection between the gas pipelines for the transfer of natural gas BRUA and the Technological Block Mokrin in Serbia.

The same agreement was also reached regarding the construction of the gas pipeline Juzni Mokrin-PSG Banatski Dvor-Pancevo-Belgrade.

– The construction of the Romania-Serbia interconnection is of great strategic significance for both countries, especially in the current energy context, the need for the diversification of supply sources, the increase of the security of natural gas supply, the balancing of the supply and demand and the facilitation of cross-border operations in the field of natural gas transport between the member-states and the relevant countries outside the EU and third countries – says the press release by Srbijagas.
