The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced that it will tomorrow present an innovative financial mechanism to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia called the “Portfolio Risk Sharing Facility” (PRS).

This program, which was developed in cooperation and with the support of the European Union, was created with the aim of significantly facilitating access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises that typically have difficulty accessing credit, such as women- and youth-owned enterprises, businesses in rural areas, as well as those operating in the tourism, agriculture and green economy sectors, the statement says.

It is specified that the PRS is a non-financial portfolio guarantee that the EBRD grants to financial institutions, co-financed by the European Union.

As highlighted, thanks to the risk-sharing mechanism and supported by guarantees provided by the European Union, this instrument helps reduce barriers to lending and enables banks to increase lending to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises that face difficulties in accessing credit due to limited collateral or insufficient business history.
