At an extraordinary meeting held today, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Executive Board adopted a measure extending the period within which the public postal operator and authorized exchange dealers must return foreign currency cash purchased from banks, the NBS announced in a press release.

Under this measure, the public postal operator and authorized exchange dealers may return foreign currency cash purchased from banks within 30 days, instead of the previous 15-day period. The measure will apply until December 10, 2026, the press release says.

– The NBS emphasizes that the FX market in the Republic of Serbia is stable and that banks and authorized exchange dealers have sufficient quantities of foreign currency cash to meet all domestic market needs – the NBS says.

As added, citizens' interests and the preservation of market stability remain at the forefront of the NBS's activities.

– To this end, the NBS continuously monitors developments in the FX and exchange market and, through its responsible approach, will not allow any non-market or artificial disruptions in foreign exchange operations – the NBS points out.
