Contract signed for construction of Dub-Dubci state road and Kadinjaca tunnel: Project value EUR 102 million

A contract worth EUR 102 million for the construction of the Dub-Dubci state road section, including a tunnel beneath the Kadinjaca mountain pass, was signed by representatives of the PE Roads of Serbia, the Chinese company Power Construction Corporation of China, and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

Aleksandra Sofronijevic, Caretaker Minister of Construction, noted that the contract covered the construction of a 6.28-kilometer-long section featuring a major infrastructure component: the Kadinjaca tunnel, with a total projected length of 1,260 meters.

The project also entails the construction of six additional bridges and as many as 20 retaining structures.

– The Kadinjaca tunnel will consist of a main tunnel tube with two lanes for two-way traffic, as well as a parallel tube to serve as an emergency evacuation route. The construction of this section is of great importance for transport, as it connects western Serbia with Republika Srpska, and by extension, Bosnia and Herzegovina, while also providing a link to the E-761 highway and the future Belgrade-South Adriatic highway – the minister said.

According to her, the construction of this road is of great importance to the residents of Uzice, Bajina Basta, Ljubovija, and Mali Zvornik, as the new section will connect directly to the Uzice bypass, which is currently under construction.

The contractual deadline for the completion of all works, encompassing both design and construction, is 42 months from the date the contract was signed.

Sofronijevic noted that the initial steps toward project implementation had already been taken, with an application submitted for a building permit for preparatory works, expected to begin by the end of the month. She pointed out that this was a highly challenging mountainous section, particularly during the winter months, but that its construction would provide Western Serbia with a reliable, safe, and high-quality transport link year-round. She added that the Ministry would continue to monitor the project’s implementation to ensure all work was carried out to a high standard and within the agreed timeframes.
