The takeoff and landing facility for its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft will most likely be located on top of a parking garage at the AEG complex. The area will be about 372,000 square meters. The complex is located next to Crypto.com Arena, home to the NBA Lakers and NHL Kings, and a convention center. An exact opening date has not yet been set, but the facility will open before July 2028, when the Olympics begin, Archer CEO and co-founder Adam Goldstein told Forbes.
The facility at the AEG complex will expand Archer’s future network of eVTOL stations to cover much of Los Angeles. Including previously announced vertiports near SoFi Stadium, home of the NFL Rams and Chargers, the University of Southern California, and Hollywood Burbank Airport. Its electric aircraft, the Midnight, powered by a 142-kilowatt-hour battery pack - the equivalent of two Tesla batteries - can carry four passengers up to 100 miles per flight and reach speeds of up to 150 miles per hour.
Los Angeles will be the first city where Archer will launch its service. The company plans to expand to New York and other large urban areas in the coming years.
