The prefabricated facilities being built for the EXPO 2027 event will be given a new purpose after the specialized exhibition is over, announced Belgrade City Manager Miroslav Cuckovic.

The prefabricated facilities, 29 of them, as he told Newsmax Balkan, will be distributed throughout Serbia according to the needs of municipalities.

– They will be used for gyms, schools and other public facilities, and the Ministry of Local Self-Government is already preparing a needs analysis – Cuckovic emphasized.

What is particularly striking is Cuckovic’s announcement of a new cultural purpose for certain Belgrade facilities, primarily Hall 1 of the Belgrade Fair. This hall, as he emphasized, will be repurposed for the Belgrade Philharmonic, opera and cabaret.

Let us remind that, about two and a half years ago, Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali published the first renderings and the first information about the plan that, after the Belgrade Fair moves from its current location, Hall 1 as a cultural asset would be used and reconstructed for the needs of the Belgrade Opera with several stages within it. As expected, soon after that announcement, the question of how suitable this fair facility is for these purposes was raised.

However, until now, there has been no public mention of the plan to have a stage for the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra there in the future.

As for the permanent venue for the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the new National Concert Hall in New Belgrade has been mentioned for years as the permanent venue for it, for which a building permit was issued at the beginning of this year. The competition for this facility was won by the Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A) studio from London four years ago.
