The submitted permit application refers, as can be seen, to works on the Palilula side of the future tunnel connection.
Let us remind that, when it comes to the latest more concrete steps related to this project, the Government of Serbia at the beginning of the year adopted a decision on determining the public interest in expropriation, i.e. the administrative transfer of real estate, land and buildings for the purpose of constructing part of the public traffic area (Despota Stefana Boulevard), in accordance with the Location Information of October 22, 2025, issued in accordance with the Detailed Regulation Plan for the Tunnel Connection between the Sava and the Danube Slope.
As previously indicated, work on the tunnel, which will be about two kilometers long, will start from Despota Stefana Boulevard near the MUP building, where the street is the widest and, apart from the gas station, there are no buildings that would have to be demolished. Btw, the expropriation is planned to be completed in 2026 and 2027.
The actual drilling of the tunnel pipes will be preceded by the relocation of all underground installations such as water supply, sewage, electricity and telecommunications.
A little over two months ago, it was officially announced that preparatory work on this tunnel connection would begin. As indicated, the construction of the tunnel pipes themselves will begin next year, when the so-called “moles” are also expected, and the works should last until 2030.
