Vitezy pointed out on his Facebook account that the project was being implemented on the basis of a bilateral agreement between the two countries and that this was why coordination between the two parties at the state level was necessary.
– We agreed that our most important common goal is to establish passenger traffic on this line, with safety guarantees in accordance with domestic and European regulations, after thorough testing of the train control system, but as soon as possible – Vitezy emphasized.
On the Budapest-Belgrade line, where trains can travel at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour, reconstruction began in 2022, but the date of opening the line to traffic has been postponed several times, Indeks.hu reminds, as reported by N1. Due to this project, it was also necessary to adapt one platform at the Keleti rail station in Budapest to make it accessible to people with disabilities, since until then it was not possible to enter trains from the platform at the train floor level, the Hungarian portal adds.
