Vitezy: The goal is to have passenger trains on the Budapest-Belgrade route start as soon as possible, an initiative has been launched to declassify documents related to this project

Hungarian Minister of Transport and Investment David Vitezy announced that an initiative had been officially launched to declassify documents related to the Budapest-Belgrade rail project, following talks with Chinese Ambassador Gong Tao, Hungarian media reports. The goal of both parties, he said, is clear - to establish passenger traffic on this line as soon as possible.

Vitezy pointed out on his Facebook account that the project was being implemented on the basis of a bilateral agreement between the two countries and that this was why coordination between the two parties at the state level was necessary.

– We agreed that our most important common goal is to establish passenger traffic on this line, with safety guarantees in accordance with domestic and European regulations, after thorough testing of the train control system, but as soon as possible – Vitezy emphasized.

On the Budapest-Belgrade line, where trains can travel at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour, reconstruction began in 2022, but the date of opening the line to traffic has been postponed several times, Indeks.hu reminds, as reported by N1.
