Chinese SANY to invest EUR 240 million in Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2 wind farms – Documentation for two more in municipality’s territory being prepared

The construction of two new wind farms - Alibunar 1 and Alibunar 2 - has officially begun and the Chinese investor, the SANY company, will invest EUR 240 million in them. As announced, this investment is crucial for local development, the stability of the domestic energy system, but also for achieving the strategic goal - for Serbia to increase the share of electricity from renewable sources in the coming years.

The two new wind farms will deliver 460 gigawatt-hours of clean green energy to the grid annually by 2028. For southern Banat and the local population, this means economic momentum and direct benefits for the local budget.

The first green kilowatt-hours from the new Alibunar fields will flow to the grid and households before 2028, thus permanently securing this Banat municipality’s position on the energy map.

– The development of the economy in the Municipality of Alibunar and therefore the construction of wind farms directly promotes a stable electricity system, not only for the Municipality of Alibunar but for the whole of Serbia – says Zorana Bratic, President of the Municipality of Alibunar.

With this project, the Chinese company begins its large investments in renewable sources on the territory of Central and Eastern Europe. For them, southern Banat, due to its climatic conditions, is an ideal ground for a long-term partnership.

– The Alibunar project reflects our long-term commitment to Serbia, our commitment to this market and our strong belief in long-term cooperation between Serbia and China. When implemented, it will bring many benefits to the local society and will also make a significant contribution to the energy sector and the goals of sustainable development of this country – emphasized Chao Tang, a representative of the SANY company.

Due to the specific climatic conditions and the Banat plain, Alibunar has become a real magnet for investors in renewable sources because by 2028 it will have a total of four wind farms, and documentation for two more is in preparation. This ecological transition directly helps Serbia fulfill its commitments and reach the planned quota of green energy in the system, while the contractors announce the highest standards.
