Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today that he expected a free trade agreement to be signed with Georgia before the Belgrade Wine Fair, to be held in October, and added that the agreement would be the foundation for the accelerated development of economic relations.

– We discussed an extremely important document. I hope that Prime Minister Kobakhidze will have time to pay a bilateral visit to Belgrade and Serbia sometime before “Wine Vision”, a major wine fair held in Belgrade, the third or fourth in Europe, and that we will sign a free trade agreement at that time at the latest – Vucic said after meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at a joint press conference.

Vucic stressed that the free trade agreement would be a platform and foundation for the accelerated development of economic relations between Serbia and Georgia, as well as bilateral trade relations between the two countries.

As he stated, almost everything that needs to be done regarding the agreement has been completed, and up to four percent of the total contract remains to be finalized.

– When we do that, then we will present it to the public of Georgia and Serbia and then we will tell people what benefits they can have from trade between our countries – said Vucic.
