Vucic: Robot factory to open in Sabac at end of June or beginning of July

The opening of a robot factory in Sabac is expected at the end of June or beginning of July, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said.

Vucic announced this ahead of his visit to China, where, as he added, 32 meetings with representatives of Chinese companies are planned.

– I hope that we will sign at least 30 agreements there. So far, we have 31-32 proposed talks with Chinese companies, I will try to achieve 20. I hope that we will return with signed commercial contracts, if we return with that, those are fantastic results. We will try to return from China with concrete contracts that could be worth perhaps a billion euros – Vucic added.

Vucic announced that the opening of a humanoid robot factory was planned in February, after a meeting with representatives of the Chinese company AGIBOT Innovation. He pointed out at the time that it was about applied artificial intelligence and explained that it was not just about software but also hardware.

– Someone has to make these robots, machines, joints and other things and all of that could be made in Serbia. So, those are three things. A robot factory, the second thing would be, of course, to have a data center and a data factory. Why? Because these robots have to have 100 million hours of learning for what they do. They are able to make you tea, coffee, iron things in the house, do laundry and everything else. And we will try to produce all of that here and be the first in Europe and have it all happen this year – Vucic pointed out at the time.

AGIBOT Innovation is a Chinese technology company specializing in the development and production of humanoid robots and artificial intelligence. It is headquartered in Shanghai, China, and was founded in February 2023.
