Contract signed for design and construction of Vozd Karadjordje expressway

Serbia has signed a commercial contract and a pre-financing agreement with the Chinese company Shandong for the design and construction of sectors 2 and 3 of the Vozd Karadjordje expressway. The documents related to the construction of this expressway were signed by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Aleksandra Sofronijevic, the Director of the PE Corridors of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, and the Director of the Shandong Serbia branch, Chang Xuxian.

This is the first phase of 83 kilometers, while in the second phase, the construction of which should be completed by 2035, another 42 kilometers will be built from the Belosavci interchange, via Raca to Markovac and the exit to Corridor 10, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic after the signing of the contract.

– We are going from the Belgrade-Nis highway, near Mali Pozarevac we turn towards Mladenovac. From Mladenovac towards Orasac, where we have an interchange that we are extending to Arandjelovac. From the other direction, from Cibutkovica, via the Orlovak tunnel, to Orasac. We expect the first part to be completed by 2029, and by 2030 this second part from the direction of Lazarevac – explained Vucic.

Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming assessed that the project for the construction of the Vozd Karadjordje road was very important for improving connectivity in central and eastern Serbia.

– I am confident that the Chinese company will complete the project with high quality and high standards and in accordance with the plan and schedule agreed upon by both sides. I hope that both sides will continue to work and further explore the potential of infrastructure cooperation between China and Serbia – Li Ming emphasized.

The total value of the contract for the construction of the Vozd Karadjordje highway is approximately EUR 1.3 billion.

The new highway, as previously announced, is designed for a speed of 100 km/h, with four lanes (2+2), a median strip and additional lanes on the slopes.

The entire project for the construction of this expressway covers the territories of the municipalities of Sopot, Mladenovac, Lazarevac, Arandjelovac, Topola, Raca, Lapovo, Velika Plana, Svilajnac, Despotovac and Bor.
