Serbia might get humanoid robot factory this year

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with representatives of AGIBOT Innovation that Serbia could be the first country in Europe to produce such robots in the current year.

– This year and in the coming months, we can launch one of the largest investments ever in Serbia and we can be the first country in Europe to produce such robots – Vucic told the reporters.

He pointed out that it was about applied artificial intelligence and explained that it was not just about software but also hardware.

– Someone has to make these robots, machines, joints and other things and all of that could be made in Serbia. So, those are three things. A robot factory, of course, and to also have data factories along with data centers. Why? Because these robots have to have 100 million hours of learning for what they do. They are able to make you tea, make coffee, iron things in the house, do laundry and everything else. And we will try to produce all of this here and be the first in Europe and have it all happen this year – he said.

– This company produces 39% of all such robots in the world. There are no such factories in Europe, we would be the first. We would make robots in which robots and humans work together, where robots would learn from humans. By 2030, we will have 50 factories in which humans and robots will work together – he said.

– Just keep in mind what this will mean for our GDP. The value of mobile phones is 10 billion per year, this is expected to be trillions - just so you understand what robots will bring. They can do all the work around the house, border control, monitor people, guard, take care of... They can be of help in everything – Vucic said.

AGIBOT Innovation is a Chinese technology company specializing in the development and production of humanoid robots and artificial intelligence. It is headquartered in Shanghai, China, and was founded in February 2023.
