Stock exchange operations at Prokop in the future – Belgrade Center commercial zone, new home for the Belgrade Stock Exchange, Securities Commission and Central Securities Depository

The three key institutions of the Serbian capital market - the Belgrade Stock Exchange, the Securities Commission and the Central Securities Depository - will in the future operate at the same address, in the commercial zone, i.e. the business premises of the Belgrade Center railway station complex (Prokop).

As stated by the Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, this was “a necessary next step for the Serbian financial system and a strong signal to investors that we are building the foundations for a faster, more efficient and more transparent operation of the capital market.”

– When the most important institutions are in one place, communication is better, processes are faster and decisions are made more efficiently. This is important primarily for investors, but also for domestic companies that are looking for new sources of financing for growth and development – Mali assessed.

He also met with representatives of the Athens Stock Exchange and the Euronext Group at the Belgrade Stock Exchange, with whom he discussed further improving cooperation and stronger connections between the Serbian market and European capital markets. The meeting was also joined by the CEO and member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Stock Exchange Group, Yianos Kontopoulos, via video link.

– Exchanging experiences and knowledge with such partners is extremely important for the further development of the domestic market. Serbia has traveled a long and difficult path in the last fifteen years. It is especially important to me that a future financial district is being developed at this location, which will also house other important institutions – said Mali.
