As he said, he is particularly pleased that UCITS funds, those with the lowest risk, currently manage EUR 1.89 billion, while at the same time the alternative investment fund industry manages EUR 142.7 million.
Speaking about the current state of the capital market in Serbia, at the session of the Finance Committee of the Serbian Parliament, whose agenda, among other things, featured a discussion about the work of the Commission in 2024, Jankovic stated that at the end of August the number of investment funds had increased to 40, and the number of management companies to 13, although, as he added, the Commission still has unfulfilled requests for the establishment of new investment funds.
He also pointed out that the situation on the Serbian financial market had improved, stating that ten years before, investment funds in Serbia had managed ten times less assets, lagging behind other forms of investment such as pension funds or insurance.
– But, by amending the legislative framework, we have managed to achieve a situation where the Serbian capital market has something to offer investors – said Jankovic.
He added that, as of September 11, the total income of the Commission in 2025 amounted to 158.3 million dinars, and expenses amounted to 95.8 million.
– We expect new corporate bond issues by the end of the year, in accordance with the project we have with the World Bank. So far, we have had one such issue, by the company Eliksir from Sabac, and we expect a series of new issues – he said.
He also pointed out that he expected the creation of the first Serbian ETF (Exchange Traded Fund - a fund traded on the stock exchange), by a management company.
– There is a lot of interest in this type of product on the domestic capital market – said Jankovic.
He also stated that the Commission was considering making a donation to the Belgrade Stock Exchange in order to support its further development, as “one of the pillars of the Serbian capital market infrastructure.” Jankovic also announced that all capital market institutions in Serbia - the Belgrade Stock Exchange, the Securities Commission and the Central Securities Depository - would move to the same building, next to the Prokop railway station, not long after.
