Additional 40,000 vehicles per year from Kragujevac – Stellantis increases Citroen C3 production

Car manufacturer Stellantis announced today that it would increase production of the Citroen C3 at its Kragujevac plant by 40,000 vehicles per year starting next year due to high demand for the model. With this capacity expansion, total annual production of the C3 and its SUV version, the C3 Aircross, will reach 300,000 vehicles, Citroen CEO Xavier Chardon told Bloomberg.

So far, the C3 has been produced in large series exclusively at Stellantis’ plant in Trnava, Slovakia. However, that plant, with the assembly of the Opel Frontera model, has reached maximum capacity, which has limited C3 deliveries.

– We are receiving more orders than we can produce – Chardon said, stating that the additional production capacity had been necessary to meet demand.

The Kragujevac factory thus once again gains a more significant role in Stellantis’ global production network, this time in the segment of best-selling city cars.
