US sanctions on NIS come into effect

Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) has informed the public that, to date, it has not been granted the Special License from the US Treasury Department, which enables uninterrupted operational business. They add that, currently, the company has sufficient crude oil reserves for refining and maintains a regular supply of all types of petroleum products to its petrol stations.

– Since its inclusion on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List in January, NIS has been closely monitoring the situation and making every effort to adapt its operations to the new circumstances. The company remains committed to its priorities of maintaining a regular supply of petroleum products to the domestic market and ensuring the social stability of its employees – the press release says.

If foreign payment cards (Master Card, Visa) are no longer supported at NIS petrol stations, clients will be able to use the Serbian Dina card, cash, or the IPS instant payment method. Clients will still be able to use and pay with the Sa Nama Na Putu, Agro, and Taxi cards.

Payment for wholesale transactions will still be accepted in dinars, ensuring that NIS remains a reliable partner, fulfilling its contractual obligations to its partners, including corporate clients and large consumers, according to the company. The payment cards of corporate buyers are functioning without a problem.

Retail Director: NIS prepared for sanctions, has enough stock

Naftna industrija Srbije has prepared for the US sanctions, secured enough reserves of petroleum products and crude oil, and there is no reason to create queues at gas stations and stockpile, NIS Retail Director Bojana Radojevic told RTS.

– Our gas stations are optimally supplied with all types of petroleum products, which means we have sufficient reserves, and the company has also made an effort to secure sufficient quantities of crude oil, which is extremely important for us for further production – said Radojevic.

There is no need for queues, stockpiling, because there are no restrictions on the amount of gasoline.

– Our sales are taking place as in the regular regime. There are no restrictions when it comes to the quantities that they can pick up, so there is no need to stockpile, because the supply will indeed be regular in the coming period – emphasized Radojevic.

Although the sanctions have come into force, payment transactions are still operating normally and all cards are currently accepted.

– If at some point there is a change, we will have other payment methods, consumers will be able to buy fuel and products in cash, then with Dina payment cards, as well as through M-banking applications of all banks via the IPS show option, and the Drive Go application – said Radojevic.

Gas stations continue to operate at full capacity, NIS Retail Director Bojana Radojevic told RTS.
