NIS to send amended request to US administration for another postponement of full implementation of sanctions

Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) will send, no later than today, a new, amended, request to the US administration for another postponement of the full implementation of sanctions, RTS learns. This company, with a majority Russian ownership, announced yesterday that the US Department of the Treasury had issued a new, special license by which the coming into effect of the full sanctions had been postponed, until October 8, 2025, at the latest.

NIS says that the license was issued on September 30 and reminds that the company has also submitted a supplement to the request for being removed from the SDN (Specially Designated Nationals) list.

As said, this is a long and complex process, and the initial request was sent on March 14 this year.

In January this year, the USA imposed sanctions on NIS due to the Russian ownership share.

So far, the sanctions have been postponed six times, most recently on October 1.
