The USA has postponed the imposition of sanctions on Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) for another eight days, until October 8-9, Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) has learned.

According to the latest postponement, sanctions on NIS were supposed to come into effect on Wednesday, October 1, however, as RTS has learned, after negotiations led by Aleksandar Vucic, the US side decided to postpone that deadline for another eight days.

The President of Serbia previously told RTS that talks with American partners had been held again with another request to postpone sanctions on NIS.

While, during the previous day, there was waiting to see whether the Americans would postpone the implementation of sanctions or not, NIS CEO Kirill Tyurdenev made a statement. He sent a letter to employees in which he emphasized what would happen if banks stopped cooperating with NIS due to the introduction of sanctions.

This eight-day postponement will be the seventh time that the US side has postponed the implementation of sanctions against NIS.
