A call for proposals for the Economic, Social and Environmental Impact Assessment Study of the EXPO 2027 Exhibition has been officially announced, and the director of the company of the same name, Danilo Jerinic, stated that they were looking for a company that would provide a clear assessment of the benefits of the exhibition, and that the entire process would be transparent.

Jerinic, appearing on RTS’s Morning News, said that they were looking for a contractor with experience in analyzing large projects, who would work on developing an impact assessment strategy for the exhibition, as well as on developing a Strategic Plan for the Development of the Location in the Next Decade.

– The contractor must consider what benefits the exhibition brings, to present results that are measurable and can be expressed through clear numbers – Jerinic said.

He noted that it was important to know what the direct benefits were that affected the acceleration of economic activities in Serbia, as well as the indirect ones - what was happening with the supply chain.

– There are also indicated benefits, which will affect the purchasing power of families – Jerinic stated.

He added that the study would also be revised, and that all the data would be published transparently and clearly.

Pavilions to remain in operation

According to him, although the study is not legally required, there is a responsibility to answer the public’s speculation and the question: do we need the Expo, and why is it important for the future? Referring to the feasibility study for the National Pavilion, commissioned by the Ministry of Finance, Jerinic said that they expected positive results and believed that it would be adopted, because the pavilion would remain in operation for several years after the official event in 2027.

When asked about the feasibility study from 2022, commissioned by the Ministry of Construction, Jerinic said that the results at that time had showed the justification of the investment, but that Serbia had only been a candidate at that time and that not all the necessary information had been available.

– Today we can say that we will have more than 120 countries participating in the EXPO, which is an absolute record for this type of exhibition. Our goal is 130 countries, 130 performers and 130 investments that these countries will make in the EXPO. This is an investment from the whole world – Jerinic emphasized.

He concluded that now came the operational phase, in which the countries would present the concepts of their exhibitions, followed by the engagement of performers, the import of equipment, customs processes and other issues that must be coordinated with the host - Serbia.
