Contractors for transformation of former Main Rail Station in Belgrade into Historical Museum of Serbia selected – Job worth EUR 16.2 million

The Historical Museum of Serbia has selected the contractors for the reconstruction, adaptation and repair of the Main Rail Station in Belgrade and its repurposing into a building of the Historical Museum of Serbia. The job has been awarded to the group of producers consisting of the companies M enterijer gradnja, Securiton, EX ING B and P, Geotaur, with the subcontractors Termo and Cold, Pavel ING and Termoinzenjering, and the value of the agreement is RSD 1.9 billion, that is, around EUR 16.2 million, with the VAT.

Two bids were sent in response to the tender, and the economically most favorable one was the bid by the seven companies that have now been selected. The deadline period for the execution of the works is 26 months.

– As the repair of the facades and the roof has been completed, this project pertains exclusively to the interior of the facility and the repurposing of the entire space with minimal interventions on the facade joinery and a smaller intervention on the roof – the technical documentation says.

The approach to the reconstruction can be split into several parts: the reconstruction of the entrance part and the passageway to the platforms, the reconstruction of the basement and the separation of the ceiling, the repair of the first-floor ceiling, the reconstruction of the staircase and the installation of the planned elevators, the meeting of all the museology criteria and the forming of a new substation, a space for a diesel-powered generator and a technical roof balcony.

Let us remind that, back in November 2020, the Government of Serbia adopted the decision for the Historical Museum of Serbia to be moved to the facility of the former Main Rail Station, which had previously been moved out of the Sava Amphitheater.
