Istria house, holiday house - Where shadows, stone and breeze meet

Holiday house located in the heart of Istria represents the first realized project of the architectural bureau Autori in Croatia. The location, a flat rectangular plot bounded by two small roads, at first glance it offered minimal inspiration. Surrounded by empty lots with an uncertain future and no clear views or recognizable landscapes, the challenge was to create a unique environment.

The generous scale of the plot made it possible to create a micro-environment that functions independently. The low, spacious structures blend seamlessly into the landscape, creating a naturally flowing layout with subtle changes in level. The design draws inspiration from the charm of old cities, where overlapping volumes, deep shadows, rooftop courtyards and atriums invite socializing and reflection.

The property consists of a main house, a guest house and an outbuilding. Each structure has been carefully positioned to contribute to the overall composition, ensuring privacy and harmony. The main house occupies the central position, around which the micro-environments are organized. The guest house faces away from the central courtyard, creating a secluded haven, while the roof of the outbuilding, which functions as a lookout and resort, offers a panoramic view of Bale.
