Starbucks opens first 3D printed cafeteria
Starbucks in Texas has opened its first 3D printed cafeteria - a facility that functions solely as a "drive-thru" and looks more like the future of construction than a classic cafeteria.
The 130-square-meter facility is made of concrete layers built by a giant robotic printer-machine,
as part of the company`s efforts to modernize operations and cut costs.
The German company Peri-3D used a giant 3D printer-machine that "pumps" layers of concrete mixture to create the structure of the building.
According to data from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the construction of this small cafeteria cost about USD 1.2 million.
