Orion Telekom becomes part of NVIDIA ecosystem

NVIDIA has officially recognized the Serbian company Orion Telekom as a key link in its European ecosystem, joining major international telecommunications firms that are building and expanding infrastructure for the new era of artificial intelligence, the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) announced.

Orion Telekom plans to expand AI infrastructure in Serbia by introducing an advanced NVIDIA computing system, designed for the development and deployment of AI solutions, at the State Data Center of Serbia. This new computing infrastructure, expected to become operational in the first half of 2027, is part of a broader initiative unveiled by NVIDIA at the GTC Berlin conference. The company identified Orion as one of nine telecommunications operators currently developing or expanding infrastructure based on NVIDIA technologies.

Marko Cadez, President of the CCIS, noted that this international validation of a domestic company in the field of AI infrastructure development represented a significant milestone for the Serbian tech sector. He added that it further confirmed Serbia's potential to secure a more prominent position within the global value chain of the digital economy.

– The international positioning of our domestic tech companies confirms Serbia's potential to become a major regional hub for the development of artificial intelligence and advanced digital infrastructure. It demonstrates that local tech firms possess the capacity to participate in the development of complex infrastructure projects and integrate into international technology ecosystems – said Cadez.

Orion Telekom has been selected as one of five operators to expand NVIDIA's existing AI infrastructure, joining Deutsche Telekom, Fastweb + Vodafone, Cassava Technologies and Kazakhtelecom.

According to Cadez, the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure is a key prerequisite for the further digital transformation of the economy, boosting productivity, enhancing competitiveness and fostering the creation of new business models.

Cadez notes that in May of this year, the CCIS and Orion Telekom, acting as an NVIDIA AI Factory partner in Serbia, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The signing took place in the presence of Carlo Ruiz, NVIDIA's Vice President for Corporate Solutions and Operations in the EMEA region, with the goal of developing a Serbian business language model based on NVIDIA technology. This established a foundation for developing AI solutions tailored to the needs of the domestic economy.

In February of this year, Orion's first AI factory was launched in Serbia. It represents the first commercial sovereign AI infrastructure in Southeast Europe, equipped with state-of-the-art NVIDIA chips, ensuring that data originating from within the country remains in Serbia.
