Andreja Mladenovic, Director of PUC Belgrade Metro and Train, noted that the interface protocol was an integral part of the previously concluded contracts with Alstom and PowerChina. It provides a more precise definition of the mutual relationships, obligations, and modes of cooperation among the contractors, the investor and the consultants throughout the project's implementation.
– The contracts encompass both the civil engineering component of the project and the aspects related to transport systems and the delivery of trains for the first phase of the first line. By signing this protocol, we have finalized the contracting process and established the contractual framework necessary for the execution of this complex infrastructure project – said Mladenovic.
He emphasized that the interface protocol served as a key document for the efficient coordination of all parties involved in the construction of the Belgrade Subway. The protocol provides detailed definitions of work processes, responsibilities, deadlines, and coordination mechanisms among all project participants. Also involved in this process are the project manager, a consortium consisting of Deutsche Bahn and Systra and the company Ingerop, which serves as the master integrator.
Given the complexity of the project and the large number of participants, establishing clear procedures and coordinating activities are of crucial importance for the efficient execution of all phases of the first line of the Belgrade Subway, the statement notes.
Within the scope of the project, PowerChina is responsible for construction works, while Alstom is in charge of transport systems and trains.
A design-and-build contract for Lot 3 of the first phase of the Belgrade Subway's first line was signed last month in Belgrade between the PUC Belgrade Metro and Train and PowerChina, thereby concluding the contracting process for construction works on the first phase of the first line.
A contract for the design and construction of the transport system for the first phase of the Belgrade Subway's first line, as well as a Financial Protocol between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the French Republic regarding cooperation on financing the first phase of the project, were signed in December 2025. The contract was signed by the relevant ministry, Alstom and the Secretariat for Public Transport.
