The planned and safe shutdown of five units at Petrohemija and three in Elemir began earlier this week. The total value of the work is EUR 15 million.
– We are starting an overhaul involving over 11,000 activities, a highly complex and important undertaking, given our role within the NIS system and our impact on Serbia’s energy infrastructure. The work will focus on energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption, as well as improving plant reliability. Attention will also be directed at the high-pressure steam boilers, which are the heart of the ethylene production unit – notes Goran Stojilkovic, Director of HIP Petrohemija Pancevo.
The maintenance work will be carried out by 400 employees from the factory and 620 contractors from other companies, primarily domestic ones. Petrohemija emphasizes that special attention will be paid to enhancing safety and protecting the health of employees and contractors throughout the overhaul, alongside the consistent application of all strict environmental protection measures.
