NIS requests new special license from OFAC

NIS has submitted a new request to the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for a special license. This license would enable the company to continue its operations without interruption beyond September 30, the expiration date of the previous license, Naftna industrija Srbije announced.

NIS emphasizes that the company’s uninterrupted operations, the continued functioning of the Pancevo Oil Refinery, and a steady market supply are crucial for maintaining energy stability in Serbia.

It is worth recalling that when NIS’s operating license was extended a month ago, officials noted that negotiations regarding the sale of NIS, involving the Hungarian company MOL as a potential buyer and the majority owner, Gazprom Neft, were in the final stages. However, there is currently no further concrete information regarding the sale.
