GSP opens new tender for procurement of 60 trolleys – Estimated value EUR 45.3 million, first 20 vehicles in 420 days

The Belgrade City Public Transport Company (GSP) has launched a tender for the purchase of 60 new trolleys with extended autonomous range, and the opening of bids is scheduled for October 19, the GSP Centar Trade Union has announced.

Ivan Bankovic, president of the GSP Centar Trade Union, stated that their expert team would thoroughly analyze the technical specifications and all details regarding the tender. He noted that the tender was of exceptional importance not only for the future of the trolley subsystem, as an eco-friendly mode of transport, but also for GSP as a whole.

– We welcome the fact that a new tender has been launched; this aligns with our expectations and the needs of Belgrade’s public transport system to replace existing trolleys with new vehicles as soon as possible – Bankovic said.

On July 6, representatives of GSP Beograd workers and unions met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. During the meeting, they called for the procurement of new trolleys and the suspension of a public-private partnership tender that would hand over four trolley lines to a private operator.

Worker representatives also sought a guarantee from the state that no bus or trolley line would be taken away from the municipal company and transferred to any private operator in the future.

– It is also important to note that the overhead contact network for trolleys will not be removed from the city center, as originally planned, until new trolleys with autonomous driving capabilities are acquired, and this will allow existing trolleys to continue operating on their current routes, which is a positive development for us and a decision by state authorities that we welcome – said Bankovic.

As he stated, the estimated value of the tender for the purchase of new trolleybuses is EUR 45.3 million, and the deadline for the delivery of all 60 new trolleys is 540 days from the day the contract comes into effect, while the deadline for the delivery of the first batch of 20 vehicles is 420 days from the day the contract comes into effect.
