Zijin launching second phase of planned development of Jama Bor mine – New flotation and mining infrastructure planned

The Government of Serbia has decided to draft a Spatial Plan for the Special Purpose Area of Jama Bor Mine - Phase II of the mine development, paving the way for further expansion of mining capacities in Bor.

The spatial plan will include parts of the cadastral municipalities of Bor I, Bor II and Ostrelj, and its goal, as stated, is to create a planning basis for the continued development of the mining and metallurgical system and increase copper ore production.

As stated in the decision published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, the second phase of development envisages improving the exploitation of the Jama deposit, the construction of new mining infrastructure and supporting facilities, as well as the construction of a new flotation for ore preparation.

The plan will detail the mine complex, ore preparation plant, flotation tailings pond, traffic infrastructure, energy and telecommunications lines, as well as other facilities necessary for the functioning of the future system.

The development of the plan should be completed within nine months of the decision coming into force, while the funds for its development will be provided by the company Serbia Zijin Copper.

The lead agency for the development of the plan is the Agency for Spatial and Urban Planning of the Republic of Serbia, and upon completion of the development, the draft will be available for public inspection for a period of 30 days in the Bor City Administration building.

Let us remind that the strategic environmental impact assessment procedure has already been initiated for this planning document.
