Zijin Copper planning to exploit Borska Reka deposit – First phase of mining to last 22 years

The company Serbia Zijin Copper plans to exploit the “Borska Reka” deposit within the Jama mine. The first phase of mining, as announced by the company, will last 22 years and will ensure the long-term sustainability of underground mining in Bor.

This is, as it was pointed out, one of the most significant ore bodies, with estimated resources of more than 800 million tons of ore, with an average copper content of 0.57%, as well as gold (0.19 g/t) and silver (1.32 g/t).

Boban Mladenovski, head of the new system at the Jama mine, indicated that exploitation would begin gradually.

– In the first year, 4.8 million tons of ore are planned to be mined, while in the fifth year, production will reach 18 million tons. For comparison, the highest annual production in the Pit was recorded in 1998 and amounted to two million tons of ore – stated Mladenovski.

As he explained, the plan is to implement a highly productive mining method, with engineering solutions that enable efficient transport and a high level of safety.
