Zijin: Serbian Government’s decision to develop Spatial Plan for Special Purpose Area not implying start of exploitation

The Government of Serbia’s decision to begin developing a Spatial Plan for the Special Purpose Area of the Cukaru Peki and Malka Golaja Mining and Metallurgical Complex does not imply the start of exploitation, Zijin Mining Serbia announced. The development of the Spatial Plan will include the collection and analysis of relevant data, an assessment of the current situation on the ground, and consideration of future development opportunities in accordance with applicable Serbian laws and procedures, the company said.

– The company will also conduct this process responsibly, transparently, and in cooperation with competent institutions, local communities, professional public, civil society organizations, and all other interested parties – claims Zijin.

The statement indicates that special attention will be paid to environmental protection, preservation of natural and cultural heritage, as well as consideration of all aspects that may be of importance to local communities and the quality of life of the population. It is added that during the legally prescribed procedures of early public insight and public insight, all planning documentation will be available to the public, and citizens, institutions and organizations will have the opportunity to present their comments, proposals and suggestions.

The Government of Serbia has made a decision to develop a spatial plan for the mining and metallurgical zone in the east of the country, and the document published in the Official Gazette states that the development of the Spatial Plan for the Special Purpose Area of the Cukaru Peki and Malka Golaja Mining and Metallurgical Complex is underway.

The future complex will also extend to the territory of Bor and Zajecar, and the decision of the Government of Serbia states that the funds for the development of the Spatial Plan are provided by the Zijin Mining Srbija company in Bor.

In the Bor area, the plan covers the entire cadastral municipalities of Slatina, Metovnica, Donja Bela Reka and Ostrelj, as well as parts of the cadastral municipalities of Brestovac and Sarbanovac, while in Zajecar it covers the cadastral municipality of Nikolicevo and part of the cadastral municipality of Zvezdan.
