National Bank only buyer of gold produced by Zijin – Last year it purchased a record number of bars

Serbia Zijin Copper generated all of its revenue from gold sales, which in 2025 amounted to around 48.4 billion dinars, from the sale of this precious metal to the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), the company stated in a response to Forbes Serbia. Last year, the NBS purchased 344 gold bars from Serbia Zijin Copper, weighing a total of 4.3 tons, the central bank said.

According to data in a recently published financial report, Serbia Zijin Copper generated almost 227.6 billion dinars in revenue from the sale of copper, gold and silver last year.

The company’s copper cathode sales generated 173.4 billion dinars. Gold sales generated 48.4 billion dinars. And silver sales generated 4.6 billion dinars.

The revenue from gold sales that appears in the company’s financial report refers to revenue from the sale of pure gold.

When asked in what forms they produce gold in Serbia, Serbia Zijin Copper, in its response to Forbes Serbia, stated that they produced gold in the form of gold bars and that, according to Serbian law, the company was obliged to first offer the produced gold to the National Bank of Serbia.

– Only if the NBS refused to buy it, which has never happened so far, could the company request an export permit – they state.
