The Bobija project covers an area of 208 square kilometers and is located approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Belgrade, near Ljubovija. The company has focused its exploration activities on the area surrounding a former historic barite mine, where three key anomalous zones have been identified: Tisovik, Crvene Stene, and Kozila.
The company’s CEO, Peter Spears, stated that these results demonstrate a new scale for the Bobija project and indicate that Tisovik represents a significant carbonate replacement deposit (CRD) polymetallic system. This style of mineralization is globally known for forming large and high-grade ore bodies.
The latest sampling campaign produced high surface metal values:
- Soil samples: Maximum recorded values reached 7.1 g/t silver, 4,685 ppm lead, 969 ppm zinc, and 1,049 ppm antimony.
- Rock and outcrop samples: At the Kozila site, values of up to 12.0 g/t silver and as much as 2.85% antimony were detected, along with clearly visible stibnite mineralization (the primary ore of antimony).
The presence of antimony generated particular optimism within company management, considering that this metal currently holds the status of a critical raw material of exceptional strategic importance on the global market.
At the end of last year, Middle Island Resources acquired Konstantin Resources, thereby gaining ownership of 14 exploration licenses covering a total of 62,000 hectares, making the company one of the largest mineral exploration operators in Serbia. In addition to Bobija, its Serbian portfolio also includes early-stage projects at Priboj and Timok.
The company notes that the system remains open for expansion in multiple directions. The next steps will include additional geochemical sampling, expert field verification, and preparation of sites for deep drilling in order to determine the true underground potential and define the official resources of this basin.
