The Serbian Customs Administration and the Bulgarian National Customs Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding on electronic data exchange in Sofia. Advanced electronic data exchange via the SEED+ system enables the exchange of information on shipments before arrival, which contributes to the acceleration of border procedures, reduced waiting times and greater predictability for the business community, the Customs Administration announced.

Georgi Dimov, Director General of the Bulgarian National Customs Agency, pointed out that for Bulgaria, as an EU member state, this memorandum was a powerful tool for more efficient management of the flow of goods.

– By introducing advanced data exchange with Serbia, we are not only accelerating transport, but also strengthening the security of our border crossings through precise risk analysis – he said.

Dragisa Petrovic, acting Director of the Customs Administration stated that the business community would be able to count on faster, more transparent and predictable movement of goods, while border services would be able to focus on quality controls that protected the safety of citizens and legal trade.

Pranvera Kastrati, Director of the CEFTA Secretariat, emphasized that with each new document signed, the “Green Corridors” became stronger and more comprehensive.

The signing of the memorandum is part of the broader “Green Corridor” initiative between the EU and CEFTA, coordinated by the CEFTA and TCT secretariats, with the aim of strengthening connectivity, improving the efficiency of trade flows and improving the access of goods from the Western Balkans to the EU market.
