Vogue Arabia recently included Montenegro on its list of the world’s most desirable destinations for luxury weddings in 2026. As noted, there is growing global interest in authentic and less predictable destinations with a soul. As Montenegro remains relatively undiscovered in this segment, it is particularly appealing to couples seeking for a wedding set in an atmosphere of intimacy, discretion, and refined exclusivity.

The growing interest in Montenegro as a luxury wedding destination was also confirmed to eKapija by Andreja Vuković, an organizer of luxury destination weddings and themed events, and the owner of the agency Weddings & Events by Andreja Vukovic.

- Over the past two years, Montenegro has clearly positioned itself on the map of the most sought-after and luxurious wedding destinations. Its greatest advantage is the combination of spectacular nature and an exceptionally diverse offering within a relatively small area - Vuković told our portal.

Andreja brought the experience she gained while organizing weddings in some of the world’s most exotic destinations to Montenegro, where she is now a leader in her field.

- My experience in organizing weddings in the world’s most exotic destinations has been invaluable to the development of my business in Montenegro. Working with clients of different nationalities enabled me to master the high standards of the hospitality industry and adopt best practices, which greatly helped me lay strong foundations for my business in Montenegro - foundations that quickly became widely recognized - the eKapija interlocutor said.

She points out that the Bay of Kotor stands out in particular, with its fjord-like landscapes providing an unforgettable setting for ceremonies by the sea or in the historic ambiance of old towns.

- Unlike some other Mediterranean destinations, Montenegro offers remarkable flexibility -within just a few kilometers, guests can choose among renowned luxury five-star hotel brands, private villas, exclusive beaches, as well as historic sites protected by UNESCO, allowing weddings to be tailored to the clients’ style and budget. Over the past two years, many hotels have strategically adapted their marketing and operational capacities to respond to the growing demand in the wedding segment, recognizing its economic potential as well - Andreja said.

In addition to the locations and accommodations themselves, she adds, Montenegro also offers a rich array of luxury complementary experiences: private yachting tours along the Bay of Kotor and the Adriatic, wine tours through local vineyards, exclusive gastronomic experiences in Michelin-style restaurants, spa and wellness treatments in top hotels, and even helicopter and panoramic flights for those seeking the ultimate spectacle.

- The combination of natural beauty, top-quality accommodations, and these unique experiences makes Montenegro a destination that can compete with the most prestigious Mediterranean locations and attract clients seeking luxury and exclusivity in a single package - she emphasizes.

Although it remains partly an undiscovered destination, Vuković says that most clients arrive with a clear perception of Montenegro and are very well informed about it.

- When planning a destination wedding, which often becomes the most important event for them and their guests, they devote a lot of time to researching the destination - from venues and cultural attractions to accommodations and local specialties - Andreja says.

However, she notes, they are not necessarily familiar with all the details involved in organizing a wedding - logistics, coordination with suppliers, scheduling, décor, and other small but crucial elements.

- That is precisely why they need a wedding planner. For us, it’s a wonderful opportunity to turn their ideas and wishes into a perfect experience, and we are truly happy to have the expertise and services to meet their needs in every way and help make their day stress-free and unforgettable - she emphasizes.

When asked about the most popular destinations for luxury weddings, our interviewee emphasizes that, although Montenegro is remarkable from north to south and offers beautiful venues for weddings in various styles, the Bay of Kotor still stands out.

- This region offers the perfect combination of luxury resorts, historic hotels, and stunning bays, making it ideal for clients seeking an exclusive experience. The Bay of Kotor also stands out with its unique architecture, picturesque old towns, and romantic sunsets, creating a perfect backdrop for luxury weddings and unforgettable photographs - Vuković says.

The majority of couples choosing Montenegro come from the United Kingdom and the United States.

- What attracts them the most is the beautiful landscape, combining the sea, bays, and mountains, as well as the possibility for their wedding to be completely personalized and private - which is crucial for many couples when planning such an important and intimate event. In terms of cost, although expenses are rising due to high demand, Montenegro still offers options that are relatively affordable compared to other top-ranked wedding destinations, without compromising luxury or the quality of the experience. This is a combination many couples particularly value, along with the fact that, despite its growing popularity, Montenegro still retains a sense of mystique, and for most guests, it is their first encounter with the country through the wedding journey - the eKapija interviewee notes.

Speaking about the challenges in organizing destination weddings, Andreja says that the biggest challenge is ensuring flawless service and remaining composed on the wedding day, because "a lot happens behind the scenes".

- Coordinating numerous suppliers, checking checklists, technical specifications, and other details is crucial to prevent even the smallest mistake.

She highlights one of the most demanding projects: organizing a luxury destination wedding for 400 guests, who stayed at the destination for five days and attended several events each day.

- The guests enjoyed every moment, changing their styling, while we simultaneously coordinated large teams across three different locations over several consecutive days. It was extremely challenging and required intensive preparation, precise management, and constant focus - Andreja reveals, adding that, thanks to professionalism, teamwork, and positive energy, everything went flawlessly.

- When you finally see the guests’ excitement, their satisfaction, and their recognition of the effort invested, you realize that all the hard work was worth it. At that moment, we also feel genuine happiness and pride - because we managed to turn the couple’s vision into reality and provide an unforgettable experience.

When asked whether the destination wedding segment could become a strategically important part of the tourism offering, Andreja says it already is, and Montenegro can definitely be branded as a "Mediterranean gem for intimate and exclusive weddings".

- What is also important to highlight is that most destination weddings take place outside the main summer months (July and August), which significantly contributes to extending the tourist season in Montenegro.

Andreja sees the biggest challenge in developing Montenegro as a globally recognized wedding destination in maintaining high-quality service and professional management, "bearing in mind that the seasonal character of the destination often affects the standardization of quality and long-term staffing solutions in key service positions".

- Additionally, the specificity of destination weddings requires a specific review in destination marketing activities, which should focus more on targeted promotion through specialized promotional channels. It is important to connect local resources, suppliers and the community to ensure that the wedding experience is flawless and competitivewith any other luxury destinations. With continuous investment in infrastructure, education and marketing, Montenegro has enormous potential to become recognized as a top destination for luxury and intimate weddings - our interlocutor emphasizes.

Regarding the further development of this segment, Vuković emphasizes that she sees Montenegro, over the next few years, as a destination that will increasingly strengthen its position in the luxury wedding market.

- The key factors in enhancing its image are certainly luxury brands and high-quality infrastructure - luxury hotels, resorts, historical locations, and access roads, as well as marina tourism, which contributes to the exclusivity of the destination - Vuković says.

She also points out that PR is equally important, adding that every event that takes place represents significant marketing in itself, primarily through social media, which have become the primary channel for inspiration and decision-making among young couples and their guests.

- Photos, videos, and wedding experiences create authentic promotion of the destination and enable Montenegro to become globally recognized - she notes.

According to our interlocutor, although high-quality hotels and luxury facilites guarantee standards and quality, the concept of "new luxury" put increasing emphasis on an authentic experience, where the guest experience is shaped to a significant extent through excellence in service delivered on a much broader level across the destination.

- It is truly crucial to provide a fully personalized experience when planning a wedding - when every detail reflects the couple’s wishes and style, the circle of luxury closes, and the destination demonstrates its full potential - concludes Andreja Vuković in an interview with eKapija.
