The Government of Serbia has adopted a decision establishing public interest in the expropriation of land and buildings in the cadastral municipality of Burovo, for the purpose of expanding the eastern part of the Kolubara lignite basin - the open pit mine Field E.

The decision was adopted based on location information from the Municipality of Lazarevac and in accordance with the Spatial Plan for the Kolubara Basin Exploitation Area.

The beneficiary of the expropriation will be the Republic of Serbia, for the needs of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), RB Kolubara branch.

As a reminder, EPS launched a procurement procedure in mid-year for the performance of exploratory drilling as part of the geological exploration of coal deposits in this field. The tender included a total of 25 wells of various depths - from 100 to 330 meters - with a total length of about 5,700 meters, as well as the installation of piezometer structures on 11 previous wells.

The contract was awarded on October 14, 2025, to the company Zajaca Ing d.o.o. from Loznica, in the amount of 73.4 million dinars.
