Institute of Transportation CIP to prepare preliminary design for construction of regional depot for maintenance of rolling stock in Nis

In Nis, which should be included in the high-speed rail system in Serbia in the coming years, there are plans to establish a multi-purpose regional depot for the maintenance of rolling stock in this part of the country, specifically diesel sets (710 and 711), but also the most modern sets (Flirt and Kis). At the end of August, Srbijavoz announced a public procurement for the development of a preliminary design for the Nis (Popovac) depot, and the job was awarded to the Institute of Transportation CIP, which was the only one to submit a bid within this public procurement, the estimated value of which was 20 million dinars, and the value of the awarded contract was 19.8 million dinars excluding VAT.

Let us remind that the eastern side of the Popovac marshalling yard was chosen for the construction of this depot. In accordance with the development and project plan of the railroad, Nis will be a regional rail center/junction of intersections and passages of passenger and cargo rail traffic along Corridor 10.

It is envisaged that the technological process in the future regional depot must include the reception of arriving vehicles, diagnostics, rough internal cleaning, external machine washing, regular maintenance (inspection and unscheduled repairs) and wheel processing.

In accordance with all this, the construction of several facilities is planned: a maintenance hall, a facility for housing an underground lathe for processing rail vehicle wheels, a facility for housing a rail vehicle washing facility, tracks for access to the facilities. tracks for testing the contact network under voltage, internal roads and fences of the complex.
