In preparation for high-speed railroad to southeast, Nis getting modern train maintenance complex at Popovac marshaling yard – Tender for preliminary design for regional depot announced

As with the north of the country, Serbia should also get a high-speed railroad to the southeast of Serbia in the coming years, more precisely to Nis. In preparation for this, in order to form an appropriate multi-purpose regional depot for the maintenance of rolling stock in this part of the country, Srbijavoz has announced a public procurement procedure for the development of a preliminary design for this depot, which will, in the future, maintain and repair both diesel sets (710 and 711), but also the most modern sets that this company has in its fleet, which are those for electrified lines (Flirt and Kiss).

The plan is to build the necessary facilities, tracks, plants and install equipment.

– Based on the reviewed possible locations, the eastern side of the Popovac marshaling yard was chosen as the most optimal and technically feasible location. In accordance with the development and project plan of the railroad, Nis will be a regional rail center/junction of intersections and passages of passenger and cargo rail traffic along Corridor 10 – the documentation indicates.

The technological process in the future regional depot must include the reception of arriving vehicles, diagnostics, rough internal cleaning, external machine washing, regular maintenance (inspection and unscheduled repairs) and wheel processing.
