Serbia to introduce tariffs for all phases of nuclear power plant construction through law amendments

Serbia has opted for nuclear energy. This is clear to us, especially after the recent lifting of the moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants. Amendments to some other laws, however, send a message that we are not that far from preparing for them.

And no less than the Amendments to the Law on Republic Administrative Fees.

First of all, the new version of the law provides for the introduction of the possibility of electronic payment of administrative fees. It also provides for the introduction of new bases for payment.

Significant changes will thus be made to tariff number 200. It prescribes tariffs for all activities related to radiation activities and the use of ionizing radiation sources. The use of radioactive material and the preparation of a nuclear facility. These items are also among the most expensive. The three tariffs exceed - one million dinars.

Selection of location for nuclear power plant - one million dinars

Anyone who requests approval for a report on the selection of a location for the construction of a nuclear facility will pay – 1,090,210 dinars to the republican budget. The same amount is provided for approval upon request for a report on the design of a nuclear facility. Just as for approval for project changes made during the construction of a nuclear facility.

But the tariff also provides for the following steps that are taken until electricity starts flowing from atomic energy. Thus, approval for a report on testing a nuclear facility without radioactive and nuclear materials will cost 408,830 dinars. The moment it is tested with radioactive and nuclear materials, it will cost 726,810 dinars. Approval for the temporary cessation of the operation of a nuclear facility will cost the same.

Here we also encounter terms that we would not want to face in the context of a nuclear facility. Approval for site remediation and the rehabilitation of a contaminated facility is provided. It will cost 272,550 dinars. Just as much as approval for an updated decommissioning plan. Approval for a decommissioning report and a report on the final radiological inspection of the facility and site are charged at 726,810 dinars.

A permit for the trade of radioactive material, radiation generators and other goods will cost 11,360 dinars. A permit for the transit of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel through Serbia will cost 90,850 dinars.
