Payment with Dina Card not to be possible either at NIS gas stations? – US issues warning to NBS, says president

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the US, which had imposed sanctions on NIS due to its Russian stake, had issued a warning to the National Bank of Serbia for the “Dina Card” (DinaCard) as well regarding payments at gas stations.

He announced talks with the US on the issue on TV Pink, telling Serbian citizens that they had no reason to worry and that the market would be well supplied.

He said that the state, when it came to oil, gas and everything else, was doing everything it could and that people did not need to worry about heating and that there was enough fuel oil, gas and electricity.

– We are already having problems with financial transactions and a warning has already been issued from the US for the NBS and the “Dina Card” (...) as far as payments at gas stations are concerned, there is no problem with cash – he said.

He also said that the market would be well supplied, that diesel had become cheaper that day and that “people don’t have to worry about that.”

– We don’t want to go back to the past, we are going into the future – said Vucic.

“DinaCard” is the national payment card of Serbia, which is used to pay for goods and services and to withdraw cash, according to their website.

“DinaCard system” was founded in 2003, as a result of cooperation between the NBS and commercial banks.
