Vucic after meeting with Russians: There will be no oil shortage and no major energy crisis in Serbia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that there would be no major energy crisis in Serbia due to the introduction of US sanctions on Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) due to the majority Russian ownership in that company.

He said this after a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazpromneft Aleksandr Dyukov and Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin.

– There will be no shortage of oil and oil products – Vucic said in a video statement on Instagram.

He asked the citizens to remain calm.

– We have just completed important talks with the Russian delegation on the issue of NIS. I am satisfied with the openness, constructiveness and honesty. We were both like that – said Vucic.

He reiterated that “the times are not easy and there is no small burden ahead of us, but what I can say to the citizens of Serbia is - there will be no shortage of oil, oil products, or any major energy crisis in Serbia.”
